Programs and Activities

Arts and Crafts Be creative, whether it be with paint, clay, fabric, wood, or other crafts. Everyone will have the opportunity to take several projects home.

Archery Learn the basics of the equipment, safety, and proper shooting technique. Plenty of time to practice will have you hitting the target in no time!

Astronomy What’s really out there? What are some tools of the trade? Campers will learn about stars, planets, and more in the universe around us. A night of stargazing after the camp fire is included.

Boating, Canoeing, Paddle Boarding, and Kayaking We will teachcampers the basics of enjoying water sports, different paddle techniques, water safety, and emergency procedures. Paddle around and enjoy the natural scenery of Millsite Lake. Enjoy a picnic by the shore during one of the classes.

Challenge Course Campers will learn about themselves and the people around them by playing cool games and tackling challenging obstacles! Thirteen low ropes and four high ropes elements await campers in a wooded setting where creativity and trust are the tools to overcome all challenges.

Dance Take the chance to learn some new dance steps! Work with the counselors to create a dance routine and show it off to other campers!

Fishing Learn how to bait a hook and cast a spinning rod. Campers will learn about the fish commonly found in Millsite Lake and how to catch them. Equipment will be furnished by camp.

Healthy Living This is a great opportunity for youth to have fun with nutrition, fitness, gardening, composting, and recycling. Explore and experience how all of these tie together for healthy living.

Nature & Hiking Learn about plants, animals, and birds around 4-H Camp Wabasso. Have fun in the woods,hike on nature trails, and visit the duck pond. Learn how all nature at camp is related.

Outdoor Adventure/Camping/Wilderness Survival We will teach campers how to build a fire, tie knots, find a good campsite, create different types of shelters, and enjoy the outdoors while making as little impact on nature as possible. Campers will get to have a night of tent camping away from the cabins! Advanced campers can sign up for Wilderness Survival.

Photography Contribute to the 4-H Camp Wabasso web photo gallery while learning about framing, lighting, motion, and creative photography. Bring a camera or borrow one from camp.

Rocketry What makes a rocket shoot to the stars? Learn to build and fly different types of rockets and see what it takes to make them fly!

Sports and Recreation Take to our large recreation field for the opportunity to play all kinds of games and sports, including soccer, kickball, softball and so many others!

Swimming Learn to swim or improve your swimming skills under qualified instructors. Campers will be given the opportunity to take Red Cross Certified Class Levels I through VII if they wish. All campers will take a swim test during camp registration to determine their swim level.

Theatre Games Learn pantomime and improvisation while honing acting and creative skills. Build self-confidence for speaking and performing the final skit for all campers.

Web Journalism Want to learn detective skills? Interview counselors and staff to uncover camp secrets and interesting camp events. Get to the core of the story while learning basic editing and creative writing skills.
