UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Title of Position: 4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT EDUCATOR

Details of Position: F/T, 40 hrs/wk, $16.15 per hour

Location of Position: CCE Jefferson County, 203 N. Hamilton St., Watertown

About the Position:

The 4-H Youth Development Educator will implement 4-H Youth Development and Health & Wellness initiatives (including physical, wellness and nutrition) for a menu of existing Operation Military Kids, 4-H Military Club, and Community Health & Wellness educational programs and activities. Programs are designed to offer military youth a consistent supportive environment that assists with reintegration and sustainment. All youth (regardless of military affiliation) will be provide the opportunity to participate in a variety of health and wellness initiatives that introduce new situations, ideas and people and challenge them to learn and develop new skills. Established 4-H programming  will be delivered in a variety of ways, including group presentations, one on one facilitation, preparation of materials for events/programs, conference calls, and participation in community groups.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and 2 years of transferrable program/functional experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (After-School Checks – Grant Based).
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate

ABOUT OUR 4-H AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County operates several 4-H After-School Programs in multiple school districts in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.These programs provide comprehensive youth development opportunities for participants in grades pre-K-12 in participating school districts.Youth take part in 4-H club activities and life skills, focusing in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM) as well as a variety of other academic improvement initiatives utilizing research-based 4-H curricula.

Title of Positions: 4-H AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM EDUCATORS

Position Details: Part-Time; 20 hrs/wk; $15.35/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth from the school district.
  • Provide guidance, direction and supervision for program participants and 4-H After-School activities, including club and life skills.
  • Assist collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.
  • Provide instruction utilizing 4-H curricula in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).
  • Assist in the creation of program lesson plans.
  • Provide staffing and/or programming coverage, as needed, for other 4-H After-School Programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (After-School Checks – Grant Based).
  • Ability to meet all School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements (i.e. Tuberculosis Test, physical exam, training requirements).

Position Details: Part-Time; 5-6 hrs/wk; $20.00/hr

Key Responsibilities of This Position:

  • Provide intensive remedial assistance as well as assistance with homework to participants enrolled in the 4-H After-School Program during the academic study portion of the program.
  • Coordinate with other 4-H After-School Program Educators and the 4-H After-School Program Coordinator to implement the academic portion of the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).
