Title of Position: Taste NY Assistant Market Manager

Details of Position: F/T, 40 hrs/wk, $16.55 per hour

Location of Position: CCE Jefferson County, 203 N. Hamilton St. Watertown / North Country Welcome Center, Alexandria Bay

About the Position:

The Taste NY Assistant Market Manager will work to promote local agricultural products and agri-tourism. Do you have a familiarity with local agriculture and retail experience? If so, this position may be for you. Job responsibilities will include guidance to market clerk staff, inventory management, purchasing, operation of cash register, basic cash controls, staff scheduling, transportation of inventory, customer service, and general record keeping. The TNY Assistant Market Manager will provide oversight to temporary staff and volunteers as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Education (Associate’s Degree and two (2) years transferable program/functional experience.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements. 
  • Must be able to drive personal or Association vehicle for pick-up and delivery of product from the warehouse to the Jefferson County Gateway Market (hand-cart or dolly may be used for transportation purposes – no heavy equipment use required).
  • Must be able to lift 20-50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must be able to push/pull 50-75 pounds.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to complete basic math functions in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional tools and methods.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to follow procedures and written instructions.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Title of Position: Soldiers and Veterans in Agriculture Specialist

Details of Position: F/T, 40 hrs/wk, $42,000/salary

Location of Position: CCE Jefferson County, 203 N. Hamilton St. Watertown

About the Position:

The Soldiers and Veterans in Agriculture Specialist will be responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the Farm Ops Program. They will be responsible to collaborate with Cornell University’s Small Farm Farm-Ops Program, Syracuse University’s OPRD evaluation team, the 10th Mountain Division Transition Assistance Program (TAP) at Fort Drum, and local agricultural producers and agencies to provide multi-faceted agriculture training for veterans and transitioning service members. The Soldiers and Veterans in Agriculture Specialist will provide direct programming utilizing a variety of methods to include: group workshops, individual sessions, coordinate mentoring relationships, and train the trainer. In addition, they will use a local farm facility as a model farm to conduct hands-on immersive training, practice entrepreneurism, and allow transitioning service members and veterans to trial agricultural enterprises.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position

About our 4-H Afterschool Programs

Do you have a passion for working with kids? Do you want to help them succeed academically and beyond? Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County operates several 4-H After-School Programs in multiple school districts in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.These programs provide comprehensive youth development opportunities for participants in grades pre-K-12 in participating school districts.Youth take part in 4-H club activities and life skills, focusing in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM) as well as a variety of other academic improvement initiatives utilizing research-based 4-H curricula.

Title of Positions: 4-H Afterschool Program Educators

Position Details: Part-Time; 20 hrs/wk; $15.73/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth from the school district.
  • Provide guidance, direction and supervision for program participants and 4-H After-School activities, including club and life skills.
  • Assist collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.
  • Provide instruction utilizing 4-H curricula in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).
  • Assist in the creation of program lesson plans.
  • Provide staffing and/or programming coverage, as needed, for other 4-H After-School Programs.

Required Qualifications :

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.

The Virtual Program Educator will provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in grades 5-12 in 21st Century school districts. The Educator will provide virtual educational programs, utilizing online platforms to remotely facilitate programming with participants. They will provide instruction utilizing established 4-H curriculum in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, and science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience).

Title of Position: Afterschool Program Educator/Health Monitor 

Details of Position: P/T, 10-15 hrs/wk, $15.73 per hour

About the Position:

The primary function of the Health Monitor role is to facilitate implementation of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) guidelines with the 4-H Afterschool Program, to ensure that the program is compliant with COVID-19 requirements and procedures. Responsibilities will include screening youth prior to entering the program, implementing and documenting sanitizing procedures, and facilitating parent pickup procedures in a manner that limits the possibility of exposure with the school and community. 

When necessary, the Afterschool Program Educator/Health Monitor will provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth. They will provide instruction utilizing established 4-H curriculum in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).The Afterschool Program Educator/Health Monitor will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work, assist in the creation of program lesson plans, utilize a variety of delivery methods and assist in delivering established innovative educational programs as assigned.
