Position Title: EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT AND OFFICE COORDINATOR

About the Position:

This position will serve as the Executive Assistant and Office Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County and will provide administrative direction, management and coordination for assigned Office Operations responsibilities. This position will provide executive support for the Association Executive Director and will exercise sound judgement, discretion, confidentiality and knowledge of the Association operations and procedures in all position responsibilities. This position will support the Association Board of Directors as well as have experience and knowledge of the required practices of a public agency. This position will coordinate special projects (i.e. Annual Meeting), as well as other administrative support responsibilities to include, but not limited to: maintaining/updating Association website and Facebook Page; reviewing program area brochures, flyers, newsletters and articles for content/required statements, use of logo, etc.; and providing support for Association marketing efforts as identified. This position will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of procedures and best practices for the Association to ensure compliance with record-keeping and reporting as identified. This position will hold the title of Records Management Officer and will be responsible for ensuring record retention recommendations are implemented, process FOIL requests as needed, ensure historical data and records are maintained, train staff as appropriate, etc. This position will be responsible for the coordination and submission of data in Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Federal Reporting System per established reporting procedures and timelines. This position will supervise assigned Association Administrative Assistants as identified.

Position Title: AGRICULTURE PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Position Details: F/T, 40 hours/week, $16.15/hour

Please Note: This position requires high levels of technical skill and experience with GIS mapping systems.

About the Position:

This position will serve as the Agriculture Program Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County and will provide program coordination and support for the Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Area, including production agriculture, horticulture, local food and food hub programming and project initiatives. A large percentage of responsibilities will be assisting in the development of a detailed map-able database (experience with GIS mapping systems necessary) of the Food System in the contiguous counties of Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego and St. Lawrence. This position will work to obtain information through grower/producer and market support and outreach to determine existing and needed infrastructure, identify efficient transportation routes and facilitate needed networks between growers/producers and markets in conjunction with the Food Hub Team. This position will work with a state public authority’s ArcGIS mapping database system and Regional Food Systems Team to create a replicable, successful food hub implementation process model. This position will organize and coordinate activities and events relating to agriculture programming; coordinate all aspects of the enrollment and reporting processes; and will provide administrative assistance in support of assigned agriculture and natural resources programming efforts. This position will assist in data collection and database entry. This position will assist in the preparation of reports, presentations and any outreach materials to support identified projects. This position will conduct direct programming via social media efforts and will write, design/layout program flyers, newsletters, articles, etc. This position will serve as an accessible resource to program staff and volunteers as appropriate, and will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work. This position will assist in delivering and evaluating other agriculture educational programs as defined.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and 2 years of transferrable program/functional experience).
  • High level of technical skills and demonstrated experience with GIS mapping systems.
  • High level of competency with utilization of: social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, etc.); Microsoft Office Suite Programs, (specifically PowerPoint and Excel); and PhotoShop; and the ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Experience with database programs.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.

About the Position: This position will serve as an After-School Program Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County in support of the Empire State Afterschool Program and will provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in grades 7-12 in the Watertown City School District.This position will provide established guidance and direction for program participants and after-school activities, including club and life skills, as well as assisting the collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.This position will provide instruction utilizing established 4-H curriculum in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).This position will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work, assist in the creation of program lesson plans, utilize a variety of delivery methods and assist in delivering established innovative educational programs as assigned. This position will also provide staffing and/or programming coverage, as needed, for other Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County After-School Programs.

Position Title: AFTER-SCHOOL MAKERSPACE EDUCATOR

Work Location: Indian River School District

About the Position: This position will serve as the After-School Makerspace Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County in support of the Indian River School District, specifically Indian River High School. The Makerspace Program is an individualized open learning environment that operates in the school’s makerspace. The program allows high school students the opportunity to learn how to use technology to create prototypes and custom products using equipment such as 3D printers, laser engravers, woodworking tools and more. The Educator will work with the Indian River 4-H After-School Program Site Coordinator, as well as school district staff to design and implement a Makerspace Program curriculum, oversee safety procedures when working with tools and help students design products. This position will represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the general public, community leaders and government officials in a professional manner. About the Positions: These positions will serve as a Teacher Tutors for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County in support of the 21 st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) Program and will provide intensive remedial assistance as well as assistance with homework to students enrolled in the 21 st CCLC Program during the academic study portion of the program.The 21 st CCLC Program provides comprehensive youth development opportunities for youth in grades K-12 from the school district. The Teacher-Tutors will coordinate with other Program Educators and the Program Coordinator to implement this portion of the program. These positions will represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the general public, community leaders and government officials in a professional manner.
