Youth will participate in community groups that promote positive youth development among all youth. The Youth Development Educator will be responsible for the delivery of established 4-H programming via a variety of delivery methods, to include group presentations, one on one facilitation, preparation of materials for events/programs, conference calls, and participation in community groups.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County operates several 4-H After-School Programs in multiple school districts in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.These programs provide comprehensive youth development opportunities for participants in grades pre-K-12 in participating school districts.Youth take part in 4-H club activities and life skills, focusing in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM) as well as a variety of other academic improvement initiatives utilizing research-based 4-H curricula.

Title of Positions: 4-H Afterschool Program Educators

Position Details: Part-Time; 20 hrs/wk; $15.50/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth from the school district.
  • Provide guidance, direction and supervision for program participants and 4-H After-School activities, including club and life skills.
  • Assist collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.
  • Provide instruction utilizing 4-H curricula in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).
  • Assist in the creation of program lesson plans.
  • Provide staffing and/or programming coverage, as needed, for other 4-H After-School Programs.
