Title of Position: Eat Smart New York Nutritionist

Details of Position: F/T, 40 hrs/wk, $18.75 per hour

About the Position:

Are you interested in helping the local community with nutrition education?

The Eat Smart New York Nutritionist will implement SNAP-ED programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among low-income families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout Jefferson and Lewis counties. The Eat Smart New York Nutritionist will also coordinate all administrative aspects of the SNAP-ED Program and will assist the Nutrition Issue Leader and Social Marketing and Environmental Nutritionist with marketing efforts for SNAP-Ed programming.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and 2 years of transferrable program/functional experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Experience with and understanding of the military community.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.

Title of Position: Nutrition & Life Skills Educator

Work Location: CCE Jefferson County, 203 N. Hamilton St., Watertown

About the Position:

The Nutrition and Life Skills Educator for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Parenting Program will focus on providing breastfeeding education and support for low income individuals and families. The Educator will be responsible for the delivery of established EFNEP programming and activities. Although the main focus will be on breastfeeding, other program topics may include: food and nutrition throughout the life-cycle, food safety, food preparation, physical activity, and basic budgeting. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable program/functional experience).
  • Breastfeeding/Lactation education training (IBCLC, CLC or commensurate hands-on experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

About our 4-H Afterschool Programs

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County operates several 4-H After-School Programs in multiple school districts in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.These programs provide comprehensive youth development opportunities for participants in grades pre-K-12 in participating school districts.Youth take part in 4-H club activities and life skills, focusing in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM) as well as a variety of other academic improvement initiatives utilizing research-based 4-H curricula.

Title of Positions: 4-H Afterschool Program Educators

Position Details: Part-Time; 20 hrs/wk; $15.50/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth from the school district.
  • Provide guidance, direction and supervision for program participants and 4-H After-School activities, including club and life skills.
  • Assist collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.
  • Provide instruction utilizing 4-H curricula in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).
  • Assist in the creation of program lesson plans.
  • Provide staffing and/or programming coverage, as needed, for other 4-H After-School Programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

About the Position:

The Afterschool Assistant Program Educator  will provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in grades 5-6 from Wiley Intermediate School in the Watertown City School District. They will provide established guidance and direction for program participants and after-school activities, including club and life skills, as well as assisting the collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program. The Assistant Program Educator will provide instruction utilizing established 4-H curriculum in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, and math (STEM).
