Breastfeeding Friendly Organization

Breastfeeding Friendly Environments Initiative: 

Breastfeeding is the most natural and the healthiest way to feed babies. We provide a variety of education, materials, and support to help make your site more breastfeeding friendly for your employees and the public. We have free breastfeeding symbol posters and window clings available to all who participate. 

Breastfeeding Friendly Environments adhere to the following guidelines:

• Recognizing and encouraging a woman's right to breastfeed in any public place 
• Accommodating a mother who may wish to pump or nurse privately by providing a comfortable space in which to do so
• Ensuring that all employees understand their rights and the rights of other women as protected under NYS law regarding breastfeeding 

The AHH Community Coalition will provide:

• Information and education for organization owners, managers, and staff around NYS laws related to breastfeeding for both employees and customers. 
• Assistance with updating breastfeeding policies and procedures. 
• Posters and/or window clings to be displayed in prominent locations to inform the public that the location is breastfeeding friendly. 
• Recognition through social and traditional media. 

Organizations wishing to implement this initiative will:

• Follow NYS laws related to breastfeeding. 
• Provide education for managers and staff as needed.
• Display breastfeeding friendly establishment posters and/or window clings in prominent locations.
• Update policies and procedures to reflect current breastfeeding laws.
