Title of Position: Student and Family Support Specialist
Details of Position: P/T, 30 hrs/wk, $19.30/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong connections between students, their families, the school, the afterschool program, and the local community, ensuring holistic support and engagement.
- Design and implement family engagement events and activities with the school and community, offer parent education opportunities, and integrate Cornell University research and programming to meet he program objectives/goals.
- Ensure students can access and participate fully in classroom activities, maintain focus, and succeed academically and socially in a safe, supportive environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year of transferrable program/functional experience).
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.
- Ability to meet all School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements (i.e. Tuberculosis Test, physical exam, training requirements).
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to students with special needs or who require additional support during 4-H Afterschool to ensure they can fully participate in activities, maintain focus, and succeed academically and socially in a safe environment.
- Collaborate with families to development learning and behavioral management plans and provide referrals to community programs as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in the 4-H Afterschool programs.
- Provide guidance for program participants and after-school activities, including club and life skills, as well as assisting the collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.
- Utilize existing program resources and assist in the creation of program lesson plans.
- Responsible for oversight of OCFS regulations for the program site in absence of the program coordinator/manager.
