Title of Position: Dairy & Livestock Educator

Details of Position: F/T, 40 hrs/wk, $45,000.00 - $48,000.00

Location of Position: CCE Jefferson County, 203 N. Hamilton St., Watertown

About the Position

The Dairy and Livestock Educator will be responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating agriculture education with a focus on Dairy and Livestock programs. The Educator will teach in both group and individual settings, utilizing a variety of delivery methods, to include, but not limited to: workshops, seminars, demonstrations, interest groups, newsletters, farm visits, and mass media. The Dairy and Livestock Educator will also be responsible for identifying and assessing educational program needs, developing program goals and objectives, and the evaluation of all program offerings. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
  • Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
  • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.

About the Position:

The Dairy and Livestock Specialist will work under the direction and supervision of the Agriculture Issue Leader. The specialist will provide direction, organization, coordination, and management of assigned aspects of the Agriculture Program. The Specialist will implement Dairy and Livestock programming from a menu of existing educational programs and program activities via a variety of delivery methods to include: workshops, seminars, demonstrations, interest groups, newsletters, farm visits and mass media. Programming initiatives will support the Jefferson County Agriculture Program’s comprehensive reach to include farmers, beginning farmers, veteran farmers, and youth.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated initiative, reliability and dependability.

Title of Position: Employment Readiness Program Educator 

Details of Position: F/T, 40 hrs/wk, $16.55 per hour

Location of Position: Fort Drum, NY

About the Position:

The Employment Readiness Educator position is a 40-hour per week position designed to assist soldiers and family members to research, prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment throughout Fort Drum and the surrounding communities. Join our Employment Readiness team in strengthening employment skill literacy (resume writing, interviewing prep, etc) of Service Members and families through group instruction, 1-1 education sessions, employment information classes, and various outreach opportunities. The successful candidate will utilize established programming and will assist in the creation of new, innovative programming, in accordance with the Fort Drum Program Area’s Plan of Work, to help the Employment Readiness Program meet their many goals. The Employment Readiness Educator will also assist with coordination of the program’s administrative aspects as well as marketing efforts. If you have a passion for helping others, if you are comfortable with public speaking, and if you have knowledge and understanding of the local job market, then the Employment Readiness Educator position is just for you!

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and two (2) years transferable program/functional experience.

About the Position:

The 4-H Club Support Specialist will provide coordination and support to the 4-H Program. The 4-H Club Support Specialist will support 4-H activities relating to county and state fair, coordinate all aspects of the 4-H enrollment and reporting process, provide administrative and program assistance in the recruitment of new 4-H clubs and groups, assist in the coordination of 4-H fundraising and trips, assist in coordinating clubs/committee meetings, provide initial orientation to new 4-H leaders and volunteers, ensure that all 4-H volunteers and leaders keep up to date with paperwork and training, and serve as an accessible resource to program volunteers, to ensure initial and continued 4-H Club success.

The Program Coordinator will provide coordination and support to Agriculture and Natural Resources, EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program), and Local and Regional Food Systems programming efforts. The Program Coordinator will organize and coordinate activities and events, coordinate all aspects of enrollment and reporting processes, and provide administrative assistance in support of programming efforts. The Program Coordinator will be responsible to assist in writing, design/layout of program flyers, newsletters, etc.

About our 4-H Afterschool Programs

Do you have a passion for working with kids?  Do you want to help them succeed academically and beyond?  Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County operates several 4-H After-School Programs in multiple school districts in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.These programs provide comprehensive youth development opportunities for participants in grades pre-K-12 in participating school districts.Youth take part in 4-H club activities and life skills, focusing in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM) as well as a variety of other academic improvement initiatives utilizing research-based 4-H curricula.

Title of Positions : 4-H Afterschool Program Educators

Position Details : Part-Time; 20 hrs/wk; $15.73/hr

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth from the school district.
  • Provide guidance, direction and supervision for program participants and 4-H After-School activities, including club and life skills.
  • Assist collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program.
  • Provide instruction utilizing 4-H curricula in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, art and math (STEAM).
  • Assist in the creation of program lesson plans.
  • Provide staffing and/or programming coverage, as needed, for other 4-H After-School Programs.

Required Qualifications :

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.

Work Location: Ohio Elementary School/CCE Jefferson County, 203 N. Hamilton St. Watertown

About the Position:

The Afterschool Assistant Program Educator will provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in grades K-4 from Ohio Elementary School in the Watertown City School District. They will provide established guidance and direction for program participants and after-school activities, including club and life skills, as well as assisting the collaborating teachers during the academic study portion of the program. The Assistant Program Educator will provide instruction utilizing established 4-H curriculum in the areas of environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, and math (STEM).

Title of Position: Afterschool Program Teacher-Tutor at Beaver River Central School

Position Details: P/T, 6 hrs/wk, $20.00/hr 

Work Location: Beaver River Central School

About the Position:

A Teacher-Tutor will provide intensive remedial assistance to students enrolled in the 21st CCLC Program during the academic study portion of the program. The 21st CCLC Program provides comprehensive youth development opportunities for youth in grades K-12 from the school district. The Teacher-Tutor will coordinate with other Program Educators and the Program Coordinator to implement this portion of the program. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements. 
  • Ability to meet all School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements (i.e. Tuberculosis Test, physical exam, training requirements).
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate
