Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement educational programs and activities that provide direct marketing assistance and education in marketing to local farmers, producers, and value-added processors in Northern New York.
  • Work with the agricultural and value-added food processing community to enhance the economic vitality of agri-business in Jefferson County.
  • Utilize established resources to provide educational programming to farmers and value-added producers regarding marketing of products that will increase the public's familiarity with local agricultural markets.
  • Provide training and direct assistance/education on basic technology skills, website development, social media, online sales platforms, search engine optimization, print advertising, signage, retail displays, product demonstrations and sampling, market analysis, market trends, business/marketing plans, wholesale marketing, licensing/certifications, payment methods, and related topics.

Required Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as part of the Tri-County Regional Ag Team
  • Provide technical assistance to farms and food businesses in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, and Lewis counties
  • Provide leadership in the planning, development, management, and implementation of the crop and soil programs, technical assistance, and research across the region
  • Provide commercial field crop producers, consultants, and industry representatives with the knowledge and educational resources necessary to assess production and management practices that will enhance their profitability and sustain the growth of the field crops industry in Northern New York
  • Lead and facilitate the extension of research findings from Cornell University, other land grant universities and agribusinesses
