The 2nd annual Cow Comfort Conference, “The Latest in Cow
Comfort.” is taking place on February 6-7, 2018, in Syracuse, NY. The
conference is a collaboration between the Cornell Cooperative Extension North
County Regional Ag Team and the South Central NY Dairy & Crops Team, with
help from PRO-DAIRY and the Miner Institutein
NY. The topics and speakers include: animal welfare and what it means for the
dairy industry (Jessica Ziehm, NY Animal Agriculture Coalition), cow comfort in
the maternity pen (Dr. Katy Proudfoot, The Ohio State University), lameness and
cow comfort on robotic herds (Dr. Trevor DeVries, University of Guelph), the
economics of robotic milking systems (Jason Karszes, Cornell University and
Bruce Dehm, Dehm Associates), lameness and cow comfort on tiestall herds
(Cornell Cooperative Extension dairy specialists), and cow cooling and barn
