About Us

Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County educates youth, families, farmers, and communities using research-based knowledge for practical application and lifelong learning.

At CCE Jefferson we pride ourselves in being able to offer something for just about everybody—including information about agriculture, gardening, home, energy, nutrition, parenting, teen issues, opportunities for young people, as well as programs to enhance the lives of our military families. We serve thousands of people every year through school and community programs, publications, new technologies, facilitated discussion groups, mass media, and other means. We help people use knowledge to enhance their own lives, as well as the lives of their families and communities.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County is a subordinate governmental agency with an educational mission that operates under a form of organization and administration approved by Cornell University as agent for the State of New York. It is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Association is part of the National Cooperative Extension System, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments. As New York’s land grant university Cornell administers the system in this state. Each Cornell Cooperative Extension Association is an independent employer that is governed by an elected Board of Directors with general oversight from Cornell. All Associations work to meet the needs of the counties in which they are located as well as state and national goals.

We are located at 203 North Hamilton Street in Watertown, with additional offices at Fort Drum, the Taste NY store in the North Country Welcome Center at the Canadian border, and 4-H Camp Wabasso in the town of Theresa, on Millsite Lake. We also have staff in afterschool programs at18 school buildings throughout Jefferson and Lewis Counties. Our staff of about 120, with a seasonal staff of about 20 at 4-H Camp Wabasso, provide residents of Jefferson County with a broad variety of practical information that is useful to people in their everyday lives.
