Shared Use Kitchens

In the fall of 2016, Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County completed the construction of a commercial demonstration and teaching kitchen at the Extension Learning Farm in Canton. The kitchen is also available for rent to vendors with other food businesses, such as caterers, bakers, food trucks and more. The space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The facility is fully equipped with cookware and utensils as well as variety of specialized equipment. For more information visit http://stlawrence.cce.cornell.edu/harvest-kitchen.

Some commercial kitchens may be willing to rent space to individuals wishing to process foods. For example, restaurants who operate only in the evening may welcome the income from rental of their kitchen in the morning. Some churches would welcome use of their permitted spaces. At least one farm in the county has opened a small permitted kitchen. Our staff are happy to provide technical assistance to those individuals wishing to open a new space.
